Rune names and modern meanings are not the same thing
The Elder Futhark is a 24-character early Germanic runic alphabet. This tool draws one, three or five runes without replacement, so a single cast does not show the same rune twice. In a three-rune cast the positions are labelled Root, Present force and Direction; the five-rune positions are simply numbered.
Rune names and some word-senses are connected to historical linguistic evidence, but the surviving material does not provide a complete ancient fortune-telling dictionary with fixed meanings for every rune. The reflective keywords and sequence reading on this page are modern writing, not a recovered historical method.
Use the cast as a prompt
Read the historical name separately from the modern prompt. Ask which image or word is relevant to the question you brought, and what real-world evidence supports that connection. You do not need to accept every symbol or treat the sequence as an instruction.
The Historical Library's rune note explains the scope in more detail. The cast is generated locally; see Privacy for the site's separate optional feedback and usage counters.
